Composers
philip kay
Philip Kay is a multi-award-winning composer, arranger and producer. His recent collaborations include working alongside directors including Garth Davis (Lion), Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine), Wally Pfister (cinematographer: Dark Knight), Rupert Sanders (Ghost In The Shell), Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie), John Hillcoat (The Road) and Ringan Ledwidge (The Gunn Report’s most awarded director worldwide) and scoring a number of Cannes Lions-winning projects.
Philip found his way into composition by less than conventional means. In 2001 he formed the band Working for a Nuclear Free City, known for its cutting-edge experimental-pop approach. His debut record, Businessmen & Ghosts, received ecstatic reception on its release in 2007, and the track Dead Fingers Talking is featured in the first episode of Breaking Bad.
Since then, he has been a sought-after composer for projects which require a deft balancing act between traditional, orchestral scoring and ultra-modern sounds - as on his multi-award winning film for Nike, which melds Catalonian drumming with breakbeats and a cameo from Rosalía. Amongst numerous other industry awards, Philip won the coveted Music + Sound Award for best commercial composition in 2014, 2017, and 2020 has been awarded gold at Ciclope in 2014 and 2017, and winner at Kinsale and LIA in 2018 .
He is widely regarded as a luminary in contemporary commercial composition, scoring films for brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Puma, Coca-Cola, Sony Playstation, Hennessey, Audi and Nike.
Anné Kulonen
Anné Kulonen is a multi-award-winning Finnish-born composer, producer and songwriter, who has scored global campaigns for major brands including Nike, Toyota, Leica, IKEA, Under Armour, Pfizer, L’Oreal, Roche and Epson. Her work in commercials has seen her pick up numerous awards and nominations at the D&AD Awards, CLIO Awards, The British Arrows, Music+Sound Awards, Creative Circle, Ciclope, Cresta, Kinsale Sharks and LIA Awards.
In addition to her work in commercials, Anné also writes for film and TV – her latest feature film Paradise Highway, starring Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman, had its cinematic release in 2022. The War Below, a WWI drama Anné also recently scored, was released globally in 2021, where this “hidden gem of a war movie infiltrated the Netflix most-watched list”.
Juxtaposing the musically classic with the sonically unconventional is intrinsic to Anné’s voice and perspective, and she loves a chance to surprise the client with something unexpected. Her D&AD Award-winning score for Nike’s ‘Victory Swim’ campaign showcases this particularly well with the marriage of rhythmic breath & vocal elements with an orchestral palette and modern processing.
Award-winning director Barney Cokeliss (Leica - Like The Night) says "Anné's music always taps into the deepest emotions of a film, making the visual story land more profoundly. She handles a huge range of instrumentation and genres and always brings in great subtlety, sophistication and attention to detail."
